Photography was something that I did on the side, as my full-time job was in the administrative field. In any case, this year I was laid off in April. When i applied for unemployment in NYS, a ”Corporate Officer Questionnaire” appeared on the screen and I had to fill it out. I answered everything truthfully and told them I had a website, but I explained that my full time job is what I really focused on and that I was currently looking for employment in my field, which is administration.
A week later I received a letter stating the following: ”You are the principle owner of an ongoing internet business. It is irrelevant that you may not receive renumeration or that your activities do not affect your ability to accept or seek other work. You stand to gain from the continued exsistence of your ongoing business and as such are not eligible for NYS unemployment insurance.”

According to the release, the Aug. 28 protest will gather like-minded people intent on delivering the message to Sacramento and Washington, D.C., that they wish to be left alone. Hard Summer Shut Down
Due to security and safety issues, Hard Summer 2009 was shut down tonight around 11:30pm. The City of Inglewood felt that the event needed to end before the crowd got more out of control. The decision was made about an hour before the official announcement allowing Inglewood riot police to get ready inside and out of the venue should there be any violent reaction by the angry attendees.

Bob Hayes was known as the “Worlds Fastest Human”. He owns an Olympic Gold Medal, a Super Bowl ring, he is part of the Cowboys Ring of Honor and now the Hall of Fame. He won his gold medal during the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo for the 100 meter in 10.0 seconds. He also helped the track team win another gold medal for the 4×100 meter relay. He became a member of the Dallas Cowboys in 1965 after being drafted by Dallas in the 7th round of the 1964 draft and quickly took the NFL by storm with his Olympic speed. Defenses around the league started playing zone because man-to-man was just not working for them. Hayes played 10 seasons with the Cowboys and helped them win their first world championship in 1971 when they won Super Bowl VI against the Miami Dolphins.He was also voted to the Pro Bowl three times from 1965-67 and was a two-time fist team All-Pro in 1966 and 1968.

Mike Seeger:- Musician Mike Seeger has died at age 75. He was a leading figure in the 20th century resurgence of American traditional music and a noted field collector of rural southern music. He recorded hundreds of musicians in their homes and local performing venues.
Mike Seeger was born on August 15, 1933 in New York, was an American folk musician and folklorist, passed away comfortably at home the evening of August 7th, 2009, after stoppinf cancer treatment. In 1958, he co-founded the New Lost City Ramblers. The string band was a crucial force in a revival of interest in traditional southern music.
Mike Seeger played a critical role in promoting true American Folk Music. His group the New Lost City Ramblers played many of the old songs from Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music, and I recall Mike re-discovered a couple of the old performers who had originally recorded back in the 1920's. Mike and his group played true folk - not the commercialized pop folk pap that diluted folk music in the 60's.
In addition to his work with the Ramblers, Seeger pursued an active solo performing career around the world. He collected and documented music and dance, appeared at countless educational events and produced teaching videos on numerous instruments and styles.

Family and friends of Judge Sonia Sotomayor are gathering at the Supreme Court to see her sworn in as the court's first Hispanic justice. The court will have its own welcoming ceremony for Sotomayor next month, and President Barack Obama is having a White House reception for her on Wednesday. Sotomayor, who won a groundbreaking Senate confirmation vote Thursday over intense conservative opposition, will be sworn in twice by Chief Justice John Roberts.
Senate Democrats backed her unanimously but most Republicans lined up in a show of opposition both for her and for the president's standards for a justice. Republicans argued that she'd bring personal bias and a liberal agenda to the bench.
