NYS Unemployment
NYS Unemployment:- In the beginning of last year, I got an EIN number so that the place that I was employed at could create a purchase order for me and pay me for photography work I did for them. Photography was something that I did on the side, as my full-time job was in the administrative field. In any case, this year I was laid off in April. When i applied for unemployment in NYS, a ”Corporate Officer Questionnaire” appeared on the screen and I had to fill it out. I answered everything truthfully and told them I had a website, but I explained that my full time job is what I really focused on and that I was currently looking for employment in my field, which is administration.
A week later I received a letter stating the following: ”You are the principle owner of an ongoing internet business. It is irrelevant that you may not receive renumeration or that your activities do not affect your ability to accept or seek other work. You stand to gain from the continued exsistence of your ongoing business and as such are not eligible for NYS unemployment insurance.”

60 Plus
“Sixty plus” House members will not support a health care bill that does not include a strong public option Representative Keith Ellison, Congressional Progressive Caucus vice co-chair, said during a media call today. Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz. (Congressional Progressive Caucus co-chair) and Rep. Keith Ellison, DFL-Minn. joined health care expert Jacob Hacker and Campaign for America’s Future co-director Roger Hickey on a conference call on Thursday to discuss a new report that details the reasons why growing blocs of House members refuse to support a health care bill without a public insurance option.
Sixty members of the Progressive Caucus have sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius stating they won’t support a bill without a strong public option. Rep. Grijalva told the media that there are House members who not members of Progressive caucus who have said they won’t vote for bill without a public option. Ellison said health care is a “historic debate,” and that because the “stakes are so high, there is going to be a fight.” In this dynamic situation, he continued, “this is no time for progressives to get cynical about President Obama.”
Hacker discussed his new report, which details key elements of a strong public plan in the House and Senate bills and why an alternative proposal, insurance cooperative, are destined to fail. Hacker said that the false and malicious distortions of proposed legislation amounted to a “swfitboating” of health care reform. Hacker said that the public option is not an ideological litmus test, but an essential component of a serious plan to control health care costs.
Hacker’s report, which lays out the good, the not so good, and the bad in health care proposals before the Congress, is a key resource for those desiring to understand the health care debate.

Little League World Series Scores
Little League World Series Scores:- The Mid-Atlantic Regional champions used the same old script -- brilliant pitching from Angelo Navetta, big power from Nick Pucciarelli and consistent hitting up and down the lineup -- in a 10-2 runaway win Friday over Northwest Regional champion Mercer Island from Washington state. It was a scoreless game for two innings, but then SSN put together one of its trademark big innings, although this one started with an error.
Joe Ruggirello reached on an error to start the top of the third and Navetta followed by smoking a ball to right field that was hit so hard, shallow-playing Northwest right-fielder Brandon Lawler threw Navetta out at first. Ruggirello, though, moved to second on the play and scored on James Morisano's RBI single.

Michael Bantle's RBI double to score David Emanuels in the bottom of the fifth kept the 10-run mercy rule from taking effect and Navetta reached the pitch count with one out in the sixth.
"He pitched a great game. He was just nailing the strike zone," said Stenberg. "We pride ourselves on being patient hitters, but, patience works well when you can get ahead in the count. But he got himself in a favorable position, 70, 80 percent of the time it felt like."
